Our current passion is to create books and notecards that are rooted in the lore of a family farm called Windward Meadows.

The 4×6″ hand-bound books are based on the real world that is part of Windward Meadows, but there is also an enchanted element that highlights all things wonderful: the porch, the cottage gardens, the Fairy Forest, and the Blackberry Meadow. The books playfully explore the myths behind the reality.

The book illustrations and quotes are also available as single note cards or sets.

Blackberry Meadow is the first book in the series and tells the story of how all the animal visitors find common ground in the meadow below the farm house. The story is told in prose in an adventure genre.

“In the heart of a lush forest, where ancient trees whispered their secrets and the melodies sung by unseen creatures floated through the air, there lived a doe and her fawn. They resided in a serene glade, hidden away from the bustling world, where the forest embraced them.”

Miles to go in the Sylvan Snow is the second book in the series and tells the story of the family journey that led them to the Fairy Forest. The story is told in poetry in a fantasy genre.

“Upon the cliff’s edge, a family stands, |Towards the unknown, to distant lands. | Winter’s breath nigh, a perilous quest, | In ancient lore, their fate is pressed.

The Fairy Forest, a valley fair, |  Enchanted whispers fill the air. | Gnomes and fairies, creatures grand, | Guardians of this enchanted land.

They huddle close, a frightened band, | The snow will fall and freeze the land, | The black wolf howls, a plaintive sound, | Echoing fears, as blizzard surrounds.”

Cottage Gardens is the third book in the series and tells the story of the gardens that produce the beautiful flowers sold at market.  Coming in 2024.

Views from the Porch is the fourth book in the series and shares the views, events, and pastimes that occur on the farmhouse wrap-around porches.

Reflections 2000 is a poetry book written during the first winter of the pandemic. The poems are based on the sights and sounds encountered on long daily walks to the Hawk’s Nest and written in a burst of creativity on the porch.

  • The Avian Series focuses on the birds seen and heard on the walks.  On the back of each card is the poem that inspired the image.

“Mr. Cardinal, dressed in red, / Wonder where you’ll make your bed / When the sun has slipped away, /And the twilight fades to grey . . .

Will you seek some leafy bower, / Or nestle neath field’s faded flower / To tuck your head beneath your wing / And dream of morning songs to sing?”

  • The Flora Series focuses on the trees, flowers, and vegetation seen on the walks.  On the back of each card is the poem that inspired the image. Available in the Fall of 2024.
